With a novel idea of having our own building for the Library in the early 50's, the then secretary, E. B. Mussolini and president, A. George D'cruz contacted its well wishers in Singapore.

With one purpose in mind, Puthenthope people who were in Malay  got together at YMCA Hall in present day Singapore and formed a committee: Messrs. Benedict Miranda, Abraham, Ignatius Pereira, James D'cruz, George Netto, Jelas Pereira, the President, Edwin P. Fernandez, the Secretary and B. M. Pereira, the Cashier. Started another fund raising for the right cause.

The land was bought, and the construction began. Wilson Pereira did a good job, supervising the construction. The Puthenthope Cooperative Society also came forward to help financially. Other debts were cleared by local fund raising or profiting from Drama, organized by J. P. Pereira, a well known Malayalam Pundit.
All the efforts were paid off, the Jai Hind building was erected. As a mark of respect, the first generation well wishers' and founders' photographs were fixed in the Jai Hind Building, but many of them were vanished or destroyed by vandalism.
